PRESENT PERSONIC: a drumless trio synergizing 3 very specific, distinctive musical personalities: Bern Nix – guitar, Lisle Ellis – bass viol, patrick brennan – alto saxophone: Neither Nix nor Ellis being of conventional musical imagination; both assertively melodic; both listening with exceptional responsiveness: 3 simultaneous solo narratives refracting some interactively unified ensemble thought. Active from about 2008 into 2012, diffused mostly through limited financial & performance options, Ellis’ eventual departure from NYC, & Nix’s death in 2018.
