Abdul Moimême studied guitar with various private teachers in Madrid, Spain, where he lived for over a decade. Later, he moved to Boston to study architecture, finally completing his degree at the University of Lisbon. In the mid-90s, he studied saxophone with saxophonist/composer patrick brennan. He currently lives in his hometown, where he’s an active member of the city’s free improvisation scene and has performed in several projects including Hipnótica, IKB, Insub Meta Orchestra, Potlatch, Queixas, Suspensão, and the Variable Geometry Orchestra. He has also performed in Austria, Brazil, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. Between 1999 and 2014, he worked as a jazz writer for various Portuguese publications such as Flirt, All Jazz and Jazz.pt magazines along with the newspaper Público. During the last decade and a half he has participated in over 45 CD releases, including 3 solo projects, as well as having participated in works for cinema and radio, including Disaster 501: What Happened to Man?
